Jeff's experience as a world-class professional tennis player, licensed
family therapist and sports psychology consultant gives his clients a
unique learning opportunity with the mental game. Jeff works from a
cognitive-behavioral approach, identifying critical beliefs and
attitudes that impede athlete's performance (on and off the athletic
field) while helping them shift underlying, negative views that improve
performance. At the same time, Jeff utilizes a variety of behavioral and
relaxation tools that train athletes how to lower their arousal levels
in competition and manage frustration under pressure.
At the end of the program, athletes will learn to embrace pressure, have
the ability to reduce muscle tension on demand, develop perspective
under stressful conditions, and will have a written road map for their
short and long-term goals with built-in accountability. Homework between
sessions is an important part of this program allowing athletes to learn
and train the skills they develop in the program.
Jeff's program also includes:
- Mental Edge Assessment to identify mental strengths and
weaknesses
- Tournament observation and on-site coaching
- Customized audio cassettes for athletes
- Discussions with parents and coaches to support progress and
maintain accountability
